BMX Freestyle is one of the most popular disciplines of cycling that allows riders to be creative in their riding using natural and artificial features.
Introduction to Coaching BMX Freestyle supports the development of foundation skills for BMX Freestyle.
What can I do with the qualification?
As an Activity Coach in BMX Freestyle, you can support riders to develop the fundamental techniques for BMX Freestyle at Indoor and Outdoor Freestyle Parks, and on flat ground.
What?
You will be qualified as an Activity Coach – BMX Freestyle and can deliver coaching activities to develop foundation skills for riding in BMX Freestyle environments, including body position and stance; carving; jumping and one hander, one footer, no footer tricks.
Where?
The areas include Indoor and Outdoor Freestyle Parks, and flat ground.
Who?
Up to 6 riders per session.

Requirements
Minimum age | 14 years* Independent coaching at 18 years. |
Coaching experience | Not required, but it might be helpful if you have seen or been involved in some coaching activity, even in another sport. |
Riding experience | Experience of riding a BMX bike. |
Equipment | A BMX bike designed for the rigours and demands of Freestyle that is in a safe state of repair. Beginner and Novice riders must have, as a minimum, one rear brake fitted on their bike. You will also need a skate style or full-face helmet. |
First Aid | It is good practice to hold a First Aid certificate, if you are coaching independently. If you wish to be covered by British Cycling Coaches insurance, you will need an Emergency First Aid qualification. |
This course is the start of the pathway in BMX freestyle, and on completion you can then access the Coaching in Context BMX Freestyle course.

The full course cost is £185 for Introduction to Coaching - BMX Freestyle.
