Reporting a concern

Everyone at some point in their own or their child’s sporting life has concerns about things they observe within their sport. These may vary from simple code of conduct breach to something more serious and everything in between.

Often, lower level concerns can be easily resolved. However, if you have any concerns with regard to the behaviour of any individual within cycling (wherever it might be), it is important that you share your concerns with the British Cycling Safeguarding and Compliance Team.

The earlier you express your concern, the more likely it is that it can be resolved quickly and without potentially further harm to a person.

Doing nothing about it may seem the easiest thing to do, but what concerns you may also be the concern of others: it won’t go away, and the situation could get worse.

All information received or discussed will be treated in confidence and shared only with those within British Cycling who will seek to resolve the concern.

Occasionally, it may be necessary to seek advice from or inform statutory agencies, such as Social Services or the Police.

All concerns will be taken seriously and managed according to British Cycling’s Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Adult Policies. British Cycling’s number one priority is the well-being and safety of all members and participants in our sport.

We will support anyone who, in good faith and where they have reasonable grounds for doing so, reports their concern that an individual is, or may be, abusing someone in any way.

British Cycling will not discriminate against, victimise, or be judgmental of anyone who comes forward with genuine concerns.

You can advise us of your concerns via the following ways:
