Major event selection criteria documents for the Great Britain Cycling Team
British Cycling follows a formal selection process for riders who aim to compete for the Great Britain Cycling Team at world championship events, Commonwealth Games, European Youth Olympic Festival plus the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Selection Process Document will be published on this page ahead of the event.
For any Non World Class Programme (WCP) riders that would like to apply please refer to section 6.1 of the Selection Process Document. Once an expression of interest has been submitted a member of the GBCT will confirm receipt of your application.
The Great Britain Cycling Team will compete at other international events throughout the year. At times, non-programme riders may be offered the opportunity to compete for the Great Britain Cycling Team. The selection of non-programme riders is at the discretion of British Cycling’s for which there is no application process.
It is important to note that the Great Britain Cycling Team's attendance at events remains primarily focused upon delivering the aims of the World Class Programme and achieving the medal targets agreed by UK Sport in Olympic and Paralympic events. Due to resource limitations, it is not possible for the Great Britain Cycling Team to enter all events in all disciplines while retaining focus on achieving the goals of the World Class Programme. Subsequently, in some disciplines and events, the Great Britain Cycling Team will not fill the entry quota available.
Any rider between the ages of 14 and 35 who wants to engage with GBCT (Programme riders, guest riders, Affiliates or Major Event Selection) must be able to provide proof of Cardiac Screening in the form of a Cardiac Screening report
