Entries are still available for the 2015 Jef Schils Memorial Road Race.

The 139km Belgian style road race open to Elite, 1st, 2nd and 3rd cat riders takes place on Sunday 6th September with a 2pm start from the Marks Tey Hotel and uses a twin circuit of lanes to the west of Colchester and is allowed a 100 field.

Signing on will be at Velo Schils Interbike at Marks Tey a cycle business run by the Schils family, the race is in memory of Jef Schils, the 1952 Belgian Professional Champion who died in 2007 This is not only a great race to ride but to come and watch too, at the finishing area at Layer Breton and its perfect village green there will be hot spot sprints points each time around and then the finish comes back up to the green the other way. Spectators get to see this action whilst keeping themselves stocked-up with food and drink from the Hare and Hounds. Bike racing, barbecue, beer, Belgian kermesse music & commentary – what’s not to like?
