Recognising our qualified coaches, and their experience, we are providing a shorter, condensed learning experience to support qualified coaches (Level 1, 2 and 3) to learn about the new approaches we have adopted in the new coaching framework.
Completing the RPEL (Recognition of Prior Learning & Experience) will enable direct access to the Coaching in Context module in the new framework, where you can learn more about your discipline, and apply additional approaches with your riders.
Who can apply?
This course is available to British Cycling Qualified Coaches at Level 1*, Level 2 and Level 3.
*Level 1 coaches must complete a RPEL Activity Coach CPD workshop to support their entry to Coaching in Context.
What will I learn?
Coaches will develop an understanding, and be able to apply approaches in their coaching practice: We have created a CPD offer to share some of the key themes and approaches we have introduced at Introduction to Coaching:
- Reflection
- The Who What How of coaching
- The ‘Bio Psycho Social Model'
- What does ‘Play’ look like in coaching
- Rider and coach-led activity
Is it online or in person?
Through this short course you will have access to the e-learning units from Introduction to Coaching, as well as a 90 minute virtual seminar. There will be some scenario based learning, and discussion with other coaches to explore how these approaches work, and how you might apply them?
You will need access to the internet and Zoom installed for the seminar.
What can I do when I complete the course?
On completion you will be awarded the RPEL Introduction to Coaching qualification. You will be ready to apply the new approaches in your own coaching, and you can access the Coaching in Context modules in your preferred discipline.
Note: completion of this course does not change your remit, as there is no discipline specific content or practical.
If you would like to become an Activity Coach, you should complete the full Introduction to Coaching in your preferred discipline.
