After a fantastic 2023 season, here we announce the winners of the National Road Series from the youth, junior and under-23 categories.
Under-23s
Cycling Sheffield's George Wood took the overall under-23 men's series title after fantastic performances all season. Wood won the third round of the Under-23 Men's National Road Series at the JToW U23 Men's GP and finished the 2023 season on 78 points. Samuel Clarke (trainSharp elite) also secured 78 points to finish the season in second place, having finished second in the PB Performance Espoirs Road Race and third at the JToW U23 Men's GP. David Hird (ROKiT-SRCT) finished third overall after a number of top 10s in this year’s series, as well as a win at the Stars of the South West Road Race.
Storey Racing’s Erin Avill secured the women’s overall victory after fantastic performances in the Under-23 and Junior Women’s National Road Series. Avill finished on 82 points, while Lucy Neatham (LDN-Academy) came in second on 80 points following her win at the Witham Hall Junior and U23 Grand Prix. Isabella Johnson (INFLITE Femme) finished third on 74 points.
Juniors
Ben Marsh (BCC Race Team) has had a fantastic season, kicking it all off with a win in the Junior Men's CiCLE Classic in March. Having also won the fourth stage in the Junior Tour of Wales, Marsh finished the series at the top of the leaderboard on 130 points ahead of Jed Smithson (MAS Design - Fensham Howes). Smithson took second place in the North West Junior Race on Sunday to finish on 109 points, as teammate Alex Beldon took the win, rounding off his season on 92 points in fourth place. Sebastian Grindley (RTD - JsCycleShack) finished third in the series standings on 96 points, with wins on the third stages at the Junior Tour of the Mendips and the Junior Tour of Wales.
The women's junior season has seen Lucy Glover (Shibden Hope Apex Tech) come into her own, taking the series win on 82 points - on par with second placed Amelia Cebak (Toufati Everyone Active). Glover finished second at the Junior National Championships behind Cebak, and has taken podiums in the Under-23 and Junior Women's National Road Series to be crowned the overall champion. Cebak has also been seen on the podiums at the MAS Design Yorkshire Classic, and took a fantastic win at the Hatherleigh Junior Road Race. Millie Jenkins (Brother-UK Orientation Marketing) took third in the series standings on 60 points, having claimed a third at the JToW U23 & Junior Women's GP.
Youth
In the youth A boy’s category, Rory Gravelle (Velo Myrddin CC powered by Y Beic) has had a brilliant season, claiming wins at the Loughborough Cycling Festival, the Scarborough Cycling Festival, the Isle of Man Youth and Junior Tour, 360cycling Oulton Park and Pembrey 2-Day. Finishing the season on 150 points, Luca Bednarek (Kirklees Cycling Academy) is just behind on 144 points with top 10 finishes throughout the season. Seth Jackson (Acrog-Tormans) came in third on 134 points.
The youth A girl’s saw Abigail Miller (Clifton CC) take victories at the Scarborough Cycling Festival and Loughborough Cycling Festival to secure 174 points for the overall win of the series. Rebecca Gardiner (Lee Valley Youth Cycling Club) took second on 158 points, while Phoebe Taylor (ESV Manchester) racked up 132 points to take third overall.
Finlay Storrie (Maindy Flyers CC) was head and shoulders above the rest in the youth B boy’s category. Storrie claimed 180 points, having been victorious at six of the eight rounds in the Youth Circuit Series. William Coles (Evolution Racing) had a great season to take second place, with plenty of top 10 finishes at a win at the Pembrey 2-Day. Noah White (Mid Shropshire Wheelers) rounded off his season on 126 points, taking podiums throughout the season.
In the youth B girl’s category, Melanie Rowe (Deeside Thistle CC) took home 176 points with dominant performances this year, winning four of the eight events in the Youth Circuit Series. Rowe had competition from Katie Robertson (Clifton CC), who had stage victories and overall podiums throughout the season to finish on 154 points. Rose Lewis (Halesowen A & CC) was just behind on 152 points, with also her fair share of podiums this year.
