Day 1 Junior and Youth National Track Championships

Newport Velodrome (Wales) | August 22-27

Competition began on Sunday at the British Cycling 2010 Junior and Youth National Track Championships in Newport (Wales) with events for Under 12's (Omnium) and Under 16 Boys (Pursuit) where a new national record was set. Winner of the Under 16 Pursuit was Jonathan Dibben who broke the National Record in qualifying with a 2.15.493 for the 2,000 metres.

In the Under 12 Boys Omnium,  Tomos Owens of the Mid Shropshire Wheelers did his parents proud as he won that competition after winning two of the three events. In the Under 12 Girls competition, Sophie Capewell of the Lichfield CC defeated Charlotte Broughton of the Leicestershire RC who recently won an international road event in Holland. Capewell had won two of the three events to clinch the competition from Broughton who had won the opening event in the omnium.
