Welwyn Track League July 2nd

Although around 20 of the usual senior riders were missing from this weeks Friday Night Track League at Welwyn Garden City (Hertfordshire) as they were competing in the National Masters Championship at Newport (Wales), the racing, especially in the Senior B League, was fiercely fought throughout with local Welwyn riders taking the majority of the points on offer. Lewis Atkins made a clean sweep of the Senior A events but there were strong performances from Dan Snow and Murat Ozdenya returning to track racing after a four year gap.

Sam Gilzean and Ollie Plumley battled it out for top places in the Youth A series with Aaron Westgarth taking the 2 lap Handicap with a positive ride. In the Youth B group Archie Wishart and Jack Plumley dominated the group while the highly competitive Youth C group produced some close finishes with Will Raymond, Tom Street and Connor Woodford all involved in the battle for points. Abigail Caton taking full advantage of a generous allowance won the three lap handicap in her first outing of the season.
