New 100 kilometre and 100 mile Suffolk sportive – espresso, stunning countryside, hog roast, and refreshing local beer.
There’s just one month to register for the brand new Crafted Classique sportive and enjoy great coffee, stunning countryside, a delicious hog roast and a refreshing local beer on Saturday August 30.
The timed event offers a choice of a 100km or 100 mile and blends beautiful countryside with quality local produce, and a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Both routes begin on the historic Ipswich waterfront with its unique maritime architecture, cafes, restaurants and bars, where cyclists can fuel their ride with a complimentary espresso before riding through areas of the Suffolk coast and heaths Area of Outstanding National Beauty.
The 100 mile route offers the greatest challenge and will see riders clock up speed through Thorpeness and Aldeburgh onto the Heritage Coast.
Both distances then lead back to the waterfront, where riders can dig into a well-deserved hog roast, washed down with a refreshing Adnams beer, brewed in sunny Southwold on the Suffolk Coast, once they reach the finish line.
The route of the Crafted Classique is based on the Ipswich and Coastal Grand Prix that will be ridden by pro teams the following day: the conclusion of the British Cycling Elite Road Series.
The event is sponsored by digital agency Crafted and is part of Ipswich Cycling Weekend - two days of top-class cycling events culminating in the final of the British Cycling Elite Road Series 2014.
Across Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 August, the town’s marina will see cyclists take on a brand new sportive challenge, as well as pro teams and riders battling-it-out in the last Grand Prix race of the season. Sky Ride Ipswich also returns, offering cyclists and families the chance to enjoy a day of traffic-free routes.
In the run-up to the event, Crafted is giving cycling fans the chance to get their hands on a limited edition print, signed by pro cyclists Andy Tennant and Steven Burke. Winners will also receive exclusive access to the VIP area of the Ipswich Coastal Grand Prix – the final of the British Cycling Elite Road Series.
To enter, cyclists simply need to upload their inspirational, funny or creative cycling training photos to Facebook.com/craftedclassique. Entrants should tag themselves and include a short description of the image.
