Bike fans rejoice, Ipswich Cycling Weekend is back for its second year and there is something for every cyclist, from novice to pro.
The weekend kicks off on August 30 with the Crafted Classique, sponsored by digital agency Crafted, following the popularity of last year’s coastal sportive. After energising with a free espresso at the start line, riders can challenge themselves to cycle either 100km or 100 miles through the stunning Suffolk countryside, before being rewarded with a complimentary hog roast and refreshing local beer at the end of the ride.
On the August 31, spectators can cheer on Britain’s top elite cyclists at the Ipswich Coastal Grand Prix as pro teams compete in a 200km race. A highlight of the British Cycling calendar, the elite road-race starts and finishes on the historic Ipswich Waterfront, with fans invited back to the harbour in the evening to soak up the atmosphere and discover which team and cyclist is victorious!
If you feel inspired by watching Britain’s elite take to the roads, why not get on a bike yourself as part of the Ipswich Sky Ride? You can bring your family and friends for a great Sunday out exploring traffic free routes you can’t usually cycle, with lots to do both on and off the bike for cyclists of all ages and abilities.
Councillor Alastair Ross, Deputy Culture & Leisure portfolio-holder and a keen cyclist, said: “This is a great weekend for people of all abilities and all ages. I hope as many residents as possible will get out on to two wheels and enjoy these fantastic events - and get fitter in the process.”
Tom Gillman, Head of Sales and Marketing at digital marketing agency Crafted said: “We are really excited to sponsor the Ipswich Cycling Weekend and the Crafted Classique sportive. We have lots of keen cyclists at Crafted, so the team is looking forward to donning their jerseys and enjoying two days of great cycling events. It’s set to be a fantastic weekend.”
