As the countdown begins to the UK's biggest ever summer of cycling, the Chiltern Cycling Festival is proving a huge draw for both sponsors and riders alike. With the announcement of GE as its title sponsor the festival is set to attract large visitor and competitor numbers this July.

With just over 100 days to go to the very first GE Chiltern Cycling Festival on Sunday July 13 the organisers are delighted to announce the support and sponsorship of a selection of partners from the Cycling world and the wider Business community. GE are title sponsors for the festival, with locations throughout the UK including Amersham, they are the perfect partner and will be involved across all the events from the family rides to the sportives. With a reputation for supporting and encouraging its employees at many sporting disciplines expect to see several GE Teams riding on the day.

With events for cyclist of all levels the festival will have the challenges you are looking for as well as the chance to enjoy a great family day out in the stunning Chiltern Hills. The combined offering of vintage stalls, cycling fashion and a farmers market has proved very popular with vendors and the organisers have had to limit applications for the stalls that will be situated along the high street. With its fine selection of pubs, shops and cafes as well as music and cream teas in the Memorial Gardens, courtesy of the Town Council expect Amersham old town to be buzzing on July 13.

1. The Jaguar Amersham - Brill - Amersham 100km and 100mile sportive rides.
Jaguar will be partnering these events which will prove to be the more challenging events of the Festival. Criss-crossing the glorious Chiltern hills between Amersham and Brill, Jaguar will provide a team car lead out for selected riders at the start of each distance as well as a few surprises for all fans of the Tour de France and Team Sky. Plus a chance for entrants to win a ride with Team Sky through their Ride Like A Pro events. All rides are fully signed, entrants will also receive a route map, free feed stations supported by Clif Bar, emergency and mechanical support, electronic chip timing and SMS results service not to mention all the festival attractions at the end of their rides.
2. The Hamptons Rectory Hill Climb
The last event of the festival and will separate the men from the boys. With the head to head format for the fastest climbers it's going to be a real highlight of the day and with £1000+ worth of prizes on offer from Solo clothing and Challenge Tyres - the King of the Chilterns jersey is going to be hotly contested. All entrants will receive a free Solo cycling cap and mussette bag.
3. The Velobici Amersham Classic
A retro inspired 30 mile route with riders entering into the spirit of racings golden eras. An intentionally open rule book means the organisers simply ask that bikes are pre 1989ish! and clothing is in keeping with the vintage feel. "Retro inspired" is how the organisers describes it, ....expect loads of steel, lashings of chrome and a little wool. Be warned the route does still climb Whiteleaf Hill at half way and has a little sting in the tail about five miles before it finishes, so plenty to challenge if you really want to push yourselves. Again the route will be fully signed, entrants will also receive a route map, free feed station at halfway supported by CLIF Bar, emergency and mechanical support, electronic chip timing and SMS results service not to mention the chance to enjoy the rest of the festival after their ride.
4. The Luker Rowe Family Ride and Concours d'Elegance
The easiest ride to get involved with, it's open to all, the route of approx 8km takes in "laps of the Old town" is flat and a great way to simply ride your bike with family and friends. Vintage fancy dress (for bikes and riders) is encouraged and entrants with Concors d'Elegance numbers will be informally judged on bikes, deportment and the style that best reflects cycling’s golden eras, with podium presentations for all winners. Entries are now open with all profits in aid of the Royal British Legion and the WW1 centenary.
5. The Little Bike Co. Baby Velodrome
Younger cyclists can also take part in British Cycling Go Ride races and skills events and for the next generation of Sir Chris Hoys and Wiggos the Baby Velodrome will put on a series of balance bike races for toddlers and under-6s. As well as being the perfect location for your summer picnic. Easily accessible from central London, the Festival promises to be a fantastic summer day out and an annual date for your diary.
