Stage 3: Sunday May 4

The third and final stage of the Isle of Man Youth Tour 2014 was on a closed road circuit on Ramsey seafront on Sunday afternoon. Youth D and E riders covered three laps (a total of 7.2km); Youth C five laps (12km); Youth A and B Girls eight laps (19.2km); Youth B Boys eight laps (19.2km); and Youth A Boys 14 laps (33.6km).

William Turnbull (Marton Race Team) won the Youth A Boys race in a sprint finish ahead of Harry Hardcastle (Kirklees Cycling Academy A) and Oliver Peckover (Sherwood Pines Cycles SRAM RT). Matthew Walls (Velocity WD-40) was the GC winner with Ethan Hayter (VC Londres) in second and Peter Kibble (Sports Trader Race Team) third.

Jessica Roberts (RST Racing Team) won the third stage in a sprint finish ahead of Lowri Thomas (M and D Cycles/Scimitar Sports) and Eleanor Dickinson (RST Racing Team). Dickinson won on GC ahead of Roberts. Charlotte Broughton (MG Decor) was third.

In the Youth B Boys category Alistair Leivers (Hope Youth Team) won on GC with William Draper (Team RL360 Isle of Man A) second and Euan Cameron (Hope Youth Team) in third. The third stage result in this category had yet to be confirmed at the time of writing.

Elle Park (Glasgow Riderz) won stage three in the Youth B Girls category. In second place was Lucy Nelson (Solihull CC) and third was Emily Bridson (Jersey Cycling Association). Park won on GC with Pfeiffer Georgi (Giant Cycling Club - Halo Films) second and Anna Docherty (Clifton CC) third.

Robert Donaldson (Mossley CRT) won the third stage in the Youth C Boys category. Guto Dafydd (Towy Riders) was second and Hamish Armitt (Glasgow Riderz) third. Dafydd won on GC, Donaldson was second, and Matti Egglestone (Beacon Wheelers) third.

Becky Surridge (VC Londres) was the stage three winner in the Youth C Girls category. Ava May Oxley-Szilaggi (Kirklees Cycling Academy) was second and Josie Nelson (Solihull CC) third. Szilaggi won on GC, Surridge was second and Nelson third.

In the Youth D Boys race Joshua Tarling (West Wales Cycle Racing Team) won ahead of Ben Askey (Lichfield City CC) and James Higham (Eastlands Velo). Tarling won on GC, Askey was second and Zachary Walker (Team RL360 Isle of Man A) third.

In the Youth D Girls race the third stage was won by Awen Roberts (Towy Riders), second was Evelina Black (Bolton Hot Wheels CC) and third was Mairi Harrison (Team RL360 Isle of Man A). Roberts won on GC, Black was second and Harrison third.

In the Youth E Boys race Finlay Tarling (West Wales Cycle Racing Team) won the stage, Ivan Sorby (Team RL360 Isle of Man A) was second and James Brown (Palmer Park Velo RT) third. Tarling won on GC, Sorby was second, and Samuel Quiggin (Cycle Club Ashwell CCA) third.

Esther Wong (Salt Ayre Cog Set) won the Youth E Girls third stage, Imogen Peatfield (Bolton Hot Wheels CC) was second, and Rebcca Cooil (Team RL360 Isle of Man A) third. The 1-2-3 order was the same in the final GC standings.

Stage 2: Saturday May 3

For the youth riders stage two of the Sleepwell Hotels Isle of Man Youth Tour 2014 was on a closed road circuit near Marown on Saturday afternoon.

Youth D and E riders covered just under half a lap - a distance of 3.2km. Youth C riders two laps (14.5km); Youth A and B Girls four laps (28.9km); Youth B Boys four laps (28.9km); and Youth A Boys five laps (36.2km).

Euan Cameron (Hope Youth Team) won the Youth B Boys race in a sprint finish ahead of William Draper (Team RL360 Isle of Man A) and Jim Brown (Rolling Stones). Matthew Burke (Newport Olympic CC), who won the stage 1 prologue time-trial, finished 7th and was four seconds behind the stage winner.

Matti Egglestone (Beacon Wheelers) won second stage the Youth C Boys category finishing 6 seconds ahead of Callum Reid (Stirling Bike Club) and seven seconds ahead of third placed Guto Dafydd (Towy Riders). Robert Donaldson (Mossley CRT), who won the stage one time-trial, was 6th on stage 2 finishing 19 seconds behind Egglestone.

The second stage of the Youth C Girls category was won by Ava May Oxley-Szilaggi (Kirklees Cycling Academy) with a 1:26 advantage over second placed Becky Surridge (VC Londres). Third place went to Solihull CC rider Josie Nelson who was 3:14 behind the stage winner. Surridge won the prologue time-trial on Friday evening.

Victory in the Youth D Boys stage 2 race went to Joshua Tarling (West Wales CRT) who finished 15 seconds ahead of Ben Askey (Lichfield City CC), and 21s ahead of Lewis Dolan (Marton Race Team). Tarling also won the stage 1 prologue time-trial.

Awen Roberts (Towy Riders) won the Youth D Girls stage 2 race finishing 12sec ahead of Evelina Black (Bolton Hot Wheels CC), and 15 seconds clear of Mairi Harrison (Team RL360 Isle of Man) who was third. Roberts won Friday’s first stage time-trial.

In the Youth E Boys category Cian Jackson (Team RL360 Isle of Man A) won stage 2 in a sprint finish ahead of Finlay Tarling (West Wales CRT). In third place, 20sec behind the winner, was Ivan Sorby (Team RL360 Isle of Man A). Tarling was the prologue time-trial winner.

Esther Wong (Salt Ayre Cog Set) won the Youth E Girls stage 2 race finishing 20sec ahead of Imogen Peatfield (Bolton Hot Wheels CC), and 45s clear of Rebecca Cooil (Team RL360 Isle of Man B). Peatfield won Friday’s prologue time-trial.

The stage 2 results in the Youth A Boys, Youth A Girls, and Youth B Girls had not been confirmed at the time of writing.

Oliver Peckover (Sherwood Pines Cycles SRAM RT) won the Youth Boys A prologue time trial on Douglas Promenade in a time of 1:39.990 - a performance which would have placed him third in the junior category - in the Isle of Man Youth Tour, part of the British Cycling National Junior Circuit Race Series.

Matthew Wallis (Velocity WD-40) was second in the Youth A category in 1:40.371, and in third place was Robert Gray (Clifton CC) in 1-40.846sec.
