Joe Moses (Sportscover RT) made it three wins in a row as he held off the challenge of team-mate Ashley Brown to win the City Road Club Summer Road Race in North Newbald on Sunday.

The 19-year-old Bradford rider was part of a nine-man break which peeled away from the bunch on the second lap.

That group managed to maintain their lead over the chasing pack and they stayed together as the rest of the race fragmented behind them.

Then, with two laps to go came the turning point of the race as Ashley Brown and Sam Ward (Dirt Wheels) put in an attack at the head of the leading pack.

Moses managed to bridge across to them and the trio began to work together to hold off the challenge of five riders who attempted to join them.

Then, with one lap to go, Brown and Moses managed to drop Ward and set off at a furious pace.

Moses held off his team-mate on the line to take the win and by this time Ward was 3:40 behind the top two and had another 40 seconds behind him to fourth-placed Steve Guymer (Clay Cross).

Moses said after the race: “I felt good today, I was pleased with the win and just managed to hold off Ashley a little bit before the line.

“Next weekend is the National Championships in Glasgow, which I’m looking forward to. I felt really good today and these wins have given me that extra bit of confidence.”
