Location: Middleton, Northumberland
Event: 5 May 2013
Report: Neil Souter
After 65 miles of racing on a testing circuit in Northumberland, first year under-23 rider Adam Martin (Metaltek-Knights of Old, pictured) outsprinted breakaway rival Rob Carter (TS Racing Team-Vankru) for his first road victory of the season.
After an initial attack from Colin Ash (Blackhawk Bikes), the move of the day formed with Nick Spencer (Gosforth RC), Ian Norris (Blumilk.com), Steve Gibson (Peak RC), Rob Carter (TS Racing Team-Vankru) and former GB Junior Neil Wallbank (Sunderland Clarion CC) in his first year back racing, breaking clear of the main group.
Having missed the move, Martin bridged across by himself on the third of eight laps of the circuit, taking less than half a lap to make it across.
With less than two laps remaining and the main group starting to pull the lead group back, Martin attacked from the break with only Carter able to go with him, the two remained clear until the finish where Martin comfortably out-sprinted Carter for the win.
The organiser would like to thank all members of Cestria Cycles RT, Cestria Cycles, friends and family and race officials for helping to run the event, and also Red Marine Ltd for sponsoring the prize list.
