TS Racing’s Rob Carter took victory in the Activ CP Cycles Spring Classic, staged on a circuit around North Dalton, East Yorkshire, on Sunday.

The sun shone on a superbly organised race by Tony Goundry and Active CP Cycles today on the North Dalton, Huggate, Warter circuit.

The Yorkshire Wolds were the backdrop for the scenic setting over a lovely rolling course with fast descents and a decent climb to the finish that would wear the riders down for the five-lap duration.

Taking in the Wolds scenery on a lovely spring day we certainly had a cracking race in store.

On the first lap after the neutralised section up the climb to the start line the race was going to soon sort out the strongest riders. It wasn't long before three riders went off the front on lap two these consisted of Nathan Wilson (Wilson's Wheels), Ashley Proctor (Bike box.com) and Sam Ward (Dirtwheels).

These three were to soon gain a gap of 28 seconds.

They worked well together, however they were still in the sights of the main bunch, and they were joined on the third lap by a group of four in-form riders, Julian Grommett and last week’s winner Richard Moore (both riding for Squadra RT), James Allen (Langsett Cycles) and Rob Carter (TS Racing Team).

These riders were to gain a gap of 1-04 at one point and carry on for the win, but Nathan Wilson was to lose contact within the final four miles, but did pick up the consolation prize of most aggressive rider.

Then on the final lap, as the main bunch were working hard to fetch the riders back, the gap went down to 53 seconds.

It went down to a superb finish by Rob Carter to take the win from in-form Ashley Proctor followed by Julian Grommett, Richard Moore, James Allen and Nathan Wilson.

A groups of five riders left the main bunch on the descent into Warter to stay away from the main bunch finish for the minor placings with the rest of the licence points going to the head of the bunch.

It was a hard, undulating course which certainly saw the best of the in-form riders in excellent sunlight Wolds countryside.
