Road: Gibb wins opening Imperial Series race

Metaltek-Scott rider Tony Gibb drew first blood in the Imperial Winter Series, sprinting to victory at Hillingdon circuit in London on Saturday.

The 36-year-old from High Wycombe took victory in the first two rounds of the Inverse RT Winter Points Grabber Series recently, and he showed he has lost none of his form with victory in Saturday’s race.

He held off Dulwich Paragon’s Alan Strang in the E123 race, while Vince Halpern (Handsling Racing) took third. Gibb also won the Neon-Digital.co.uk prime to add to his winnings.

In the third cat race, victory went to VC10 rider Simon Oxenham, who beat Jacek Reder to the line, while Ken Buckley (AW Cycles) was third.

And UCL rider Antonio Guenzler won the fourth cat race from Matt Convert (unattached).
