Report:
Jason Duckworth (VC St Raphael) won the second Heath Race with a lot of work done by his team to put him in the break with just over two laps to go. A group of six riders pulled away from the bunch and managed to open a workable lead allowing the rest of the VC riders to control things in the bunch and even allowing Max Holloway to claim seventh in the bunch sprint.
Tonight’s race across the New Forest was held on dry still conditions with very little wind to bother the riders. After five laps of the Heath with an uphill finish after they had completed thirty two miles of racing.
The second race of three (first one cancelled) saw the bunch much more attentive as any attack was soon pulled back not allowing for anyone to pull away. On each of the first three laps different riders came to the front only to be pulled back.
Two riders at the sharp end for much of the race were John Hyde (VC St Raphael) and Phillip Peters (Cannondale Racing). John was working hard to open the gaps which in the latter stages of the race his team mates duly filled.
With just under two laps to go a strong group started to pull away and he group could not pull this back. At the bell this group had reduced in size slightly, as they approached the finish Jason was just clear of Phillip and he held on to finish a bike length clear with Sean Curtis (Sundrive Track Team) third.
