Second on the same circuit a week earlier, Chris Wood (WyndyMilla-UK Youth) ended a run of near misses with victory in Surrey League’s race for second and third categories at the Cyclopark in Gravesend.
The 32-year-old, from Godalming, came in ahead veteran Marcus Brueton (Norwood Paragon CC) and under-23 Josh Lawless (Aprire Bicycles) – the winner the previous week – in a three-man break, 1-10 clear of a chasing quartet after 63 kilometres of racing.
In the supporting fourth category road race, Barny Willard (In-Gear Quickvit) took the win ahead of Nathan Howard (unattached), while High Wycombe CC’s Mary Evans won the women’s race.
