On the 21st May this year after a long 20 year break British Cycling sanctioned road racing will return to the island at the inaugural Wightlink-Wight Mountain IoW Road race on a stunning 50 mile course based on the south of the island.
The Regional A race (2nd, 3rd and 4th Category) is being promoted by Julie & Jerry Cooper who organise many of the Islands existing cycling events have worked hard over the past 9 months in order to bring racing back to the island.
The course which starts and finishes on the south coast of the island with it’s spectacular views from the costal road then heads inland and up rolling roads to complete the 20mile lap before an additional finishing loop atop the climb at Freshwater. – View the course gpx files here.
The event has received support from Wightlink ferries who are able to offer discounted ferry travel to the island for riders taking part, so why not make a weekend or longer of it and bring the family for a island break with the addition of a great new event to ride.
