Report: British Fourcross Series Round 1
Words, Photography And Video By Andy Dunwoody
British 4X Home | Results
The big news from the opening round of the British Fourcross Series comes from Scott Beaumont, who crashed in the final and has an unconfirmed wrist injury - the current state of which is reported to be extremely bruised and swollen.
Starting from lane four on the furthest right of the track, Beaumont - the 2009 British Champion - crashed after being pushed wide and failing to carry enough speed into the first main jump. Following Beaumont's crash, Will Longden continued with the lead and comfortably won ahead of Will Evans and Duncan Ferris.
In terrible conditions which bought riders to a standstill on the boggy clay surface, racing was slow throughout the weekend and while the heaviest rain abated for race day, the damage to the track was irreparable.
In the women's race Nichola Anderson took the win, ahead of Karry Wrigglesworth and Terri-Anne Busbridge.
We'll have a video edit fresh from the hands of Andy Dunwoody very soon.
