The Rotary Club of St Austell Bay are organising our forth Cornish Alpine Cycling Challenge in aid of local charities

Now suitable for gravel bikes

You can be the enjoy the Cornish Alpine Cycling Challenge which will take you around the St Austell Clay area, with some parts  of the course not open to the general public, creating an unique ride.

 

This is a non-competitive gravel sportive mainly off road, on tracks and trails, offering the opportunity to explore the Cornish Alps suitable for novice to experienced riders. There are three routes 12 miles (19km)  25 miles (40km) and 50miles (80Km)

The Bronze 12 mile route takes you along trails from the centre of St Austell to the world famous Eden Project and back, you will ride over redundant clay workings on gravel tracks, this is a testing route for new and novice riders, ideal for families with children who want to do a healthy activity together. 

The Silver 25 mile route will be mainly on gravel trails and pathways around St Austell taking in former and current clay workings that are not normally open to the public.  You will be going to the top of one of the highest man made clay hills in Cornwall with views Coast to Coast.  This will be a very testing trial ride aimed at more experience off roaders.

The Gold 50 mile route will be mainly on gravel trails and pathways around St Austell and out into Clay country taking in former and current clay workings that are not normally open to the public as well as the Goss Moor.  You will be going to the top of one of the highest man made clay hills in Cornwall with views Coast to Coast.  This will be a very testing trial ride aimed at more experience off roaders, estimate time will be between 4 - 8 hours riding.

12 mile route is suitable for gravel, cyclocross, mountain bikes and suitable E-bikes. Not suitable for road bikes.  Event starts and returns in St Austell and there will be some riding on public roads.

25 and 50 mile route is suitable for Gravel, MTB and suitable MTB  E-bikes due to rough terrain over parts of the course, but please ensure that E-bikes have the range.

Every finisher gets a medal to remind them of the event

  • Pre-day entries  depend upon route 
  • On the day entries accepted will be dependent upon route
  • We prefer online registration, however if pay on the day please have correct money or debit card (Not American Express)
  • Registration from 7.30 am
  • Start time from 8.30am for 50 mile, 9.30 am for 25 mile and 10am for 12 miles
  • Event HQ – Priory Car Park, Priory Road, St Austell PL25 5AB
  • Water stations on all routes
  • Well signed route.
  • Mobile mechanics and recovery support
  • Mobile First Aid
  • Event insured through British Cycling.
  • You do not need to be a member of British Cycling to enter this event.
