Back to its full four day/five stage format for 2022, the SD Sealants Junior Tour of Wales includes all the classic elements - plus some exciting new ones to test the best junior men, and junior and under 23 women

The race gets underway with the opening prologue TT to the western summit of the Tumble on Friday evening - for the men and women, with a new start leading onto the classic course.

Saturday's stage 2 sees the men race head west from Abergavenny on the traditional long 108km opening road stage, to an exciting new finish that takes the riders all the way from Monmouthshire in the east, to Carmarthenshire in the west. The women will start from Brecon in the afternoon, taking on a compact 59km version of the same course.

Sunday sees the race continue its successful stay at the picturesque Pembrey Country Park. The men will take on the challenging National Closed Road Circuit in the morning, before the road stage north into the Towy Valley in the afternoon that the sprinters and rouleurs will love.

The women take on the stages in the opposite order, 63km flat-rolling road race in the morning, circuit stage in the afternoon.

Monday's stage has a familiar ring to it for the men, but with a fast new start. Back in its traditional hometown of Brynmawr, the race will head down the freshly completed new A465 before meandering down to the south east, past the landmark Tintern Abbey and almost into England, before heading back up to the final showdown on the traditional, and fearsome, Tumble Mountain.

The women will start at 3pm, taking on a slightly shorter, 75km version of the course that leads them around the picturesque villages of Usk, Raglan and Mitcheltroy, before they too fight out for the overall victory on the slopes of the Tumble.

There is something for every type of rider - but only the best will triumph.
