British Cycling 'Summer of Cycling'  MEN ONLY session at York Velodrome.

 

Open to all Men - all abilities !

This is a coached session which is aimed at male riders of all ages and abilities (aged 9+)

Whether you are a complete novice and just want to 'have a go' or a regular racing rider wanting some quality training time - this 4 hour session is for you.

Expert coaching will be provided and you will be allowed plenty of track time, we will split into ability groups so that everyone gets the most from the experience.

Bikes will be available at the venue but if you have your own fixed wheel TRACK BIKE you are encouraged to bring it along to use.

 

Session timings:

Please arrive around 0930 to sign on, collect a bike and for a pre session briefing from the coaches.

10am start - 2 pm finish.

Parents/guardians of youth riders are expected to remain on site for the duration of the session please.

About the Event

Info for Riders

This is an 4 hour track riding session for men of all ages (minimum 9 years) and abilities.

No previous track experience is necessary but you must be a competent cyclist able to ride a road bike and preferably have a reasonable level of fitness to be able to ride for 20 minutes without stopping.

Ability groups will be formed to ensure that everyone experiences a useful session which caters for their needs.

Road bikes are not allowed on the velodrome - specific fixed wheel track bikes are used and there are loan bikes available.

If you do have your own - please bring it along.

Helmets are compulsory.

Clothing - it is recommended that you wear normal cycling kit, plus an undershirt. Long leggings and long sleeved tops are beneficial in case you fall, and gloves / track mitts must be worn.

 

Coaching will be delivered by experienced track coaches.

Novice riders will be introduced to the basics of track riding in a gradual, safe and progressive manner.

More experienced riders will benefit from specific skills and drills with a focus on improving fitness and race readiness.

 

As this is an outdoor velodrome - in the unlikely event of poor weather the session will be postponed to a later date and if necessary entry fees will either be deferred or refunded if requested.
