Heckington - now in its 152nd Year!

Records show that the first cycle race was held at Heckington Show in 1869 which appears to make Heckington the oldest bike race in the UK, if not the world!

The Grass Meeting remains a valued and entertaining part of the show weekend.  With a well established 400m track in the Show's main event ring, in front of the large grandstand, it brings grass track racing and the competitors right to the forefront of the show visitors' attention. The "big show" feel and a generous prize list always makes for good racing.

For 2021 the show itself is only a single day event to stay within Covid-19 guidelines. This means that the grass track meeting will have a limited time of 3 hours within the day's other activities, which has required the number of competitor classes and races to be slightly restricted.

However, the meeting still promises a good exciting day's racing and incorporates the British Cycling National 800metre Championship for Men as well as a round of the BC National Endurance League.

Ladies entries are encouraged and with sufficient numbers, their races will be held separately to the mens' (with the exception of the handicap).

Unfortunately there will not be time for the Youth Go-ride club competition in the reduced programme, but there is a selection of races for Youth A & B categories.

The event is again part of the season long Go Green Series with points for Seniors and Juniors counting towards the overall result.

Entries are welcome from Men and Women, both Seniors & Juniors, plus Youth A & B.

The closing date is strictly two weeks before the event, with no exceptions.

No entries will be accepted after 23.55 on 9th July or on the day.

Exact race timings are yet to be decided but will start at 11.00 and finish at 14.00.  The final programme will be sent out the week before the event.
