LCCA Team Cyclo Cross Champs 2020

The traditional end to the Cyclo Cross Season in the South East, the Crawley Wheelers once again host the popular Team Champs at the South of England Showground at Ardingly in Sussex. The fantastic course is based around the huge under cover sandy area of the Abergavenny building and visits to two outside sand schools. There is also a large tarmac section where drafting will be an advantage.

How to enter? Important!

Please read rules on eligibility of teams below for each race. Each rider is to enter as an individual on the BC website and then each team manager/captain is to email Doug Fox on dougt595@gmail.com with the name of the team and the riders in that team. Please note that if you do not have team to race in, we advise that you still enter as we can assist with making up composite teams and everyone will get to race even if on your own.  Please Note - this option is not available for the Open Team champs. You must be in team of 1st claim members.

Race schedule and format

Teams will be made up of 4 riders numbered 1 to 4. Each rider will line up in corresponding start bays. Each rider will have a different start time.

UNDER 12 Race Length =15mins | Starting @11am                                     

  • RIDER 1 starts at 11:00am
  • RIDER 2 starts at 11:00am + 30 seconds
  • RIDER 3 starts at 11:00am + 60 seconds
  • RIDER 4 starts at 11:00am + 90 seconds

Where do I enter? British Cycling website

Is there entry on the day? Yes, only if each maximum field size not reached, however we do strongly encourage pre-entry to avoid disappointment as this is a very popular event. We expect only the under 12 and Youth race will have spaces and the ability to enter on the day.

Do I use the number I have used at previous London and South East League races? Yes

I have not raced in the London and South East league this season and it will be my first cross race this year? You can enter but will need to collect a number and timing chip at sign on so arrive in plenty of time.  

When is the closing date to enter online? 18.00 hours Friday 7th February 2020.

I have a team of 3, can I enter? Teams of 3 can enter any of the races, however to win the Team champs all riders need to be first claim members of there club. However, there are prizes for composite teams in the Under 12 and Youth races and a separate support champs team race.

I only have 2 riders; can I enter the Senior Open Team champs? No, but you can enter the adult non-team champs’ race.

What if I’m lapped in race? Carry on until you see the finish line chequered flag

How do I return my number after the race?  Leave it at sign on.

We have more than one team to enter, what do I call them? For clubs/Teams, simply call A, B etc. For composite teams use your imagination (Within reason of course)

Reserves? What happens if one of my riders cannot race on the day, can I enter someone else? Yes, this can be done at sign on.

Can we have multiple teams entered in the open team champs’ race? Yes, however, only one per category.

I have a number and tag that have used for the year, can I return at this race? Yes please, all numbers and tags from the whole season are welcomed to be returned, please leave at sign on.
