Event Overview

This is a 4 session block of madison training for any rider Youth B and older including adults. This block of sessions is designed to teach and improve the skills of novice riders and prepare them for racing and improve their bike handling skills. Whilst for the experienced riders an opportunity to be coached at madison and have a session focussed on madison racing technically, tactically and physically. 

The 4 session dates are:

15th August 2018

22nd August 2018

29th August 2018

5th September 2018

There will be two groups of riders novice and experienced. Please select the appropriate group when entering inclucing Adult or Junior/Youth. The cost defined is for the whole block £60 for a senior and £40 for a youth or junior. A novice is defined as not having done madison before or having less than 6-10 madison coached sessions. The experienced group is defined as having raced madison previously at a Scottish or British event. 

Riders must be accredited to ride the track at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome

At the coaches discretion more groups may be created on the day according to the groups of riders.

About the Event

Info for Riders

This is the 1st session of 4 session block of sprint and madison training for any rider Youth B and older including adults. This block of sessions is designed to teach and improve the skills of novice riders and prepare them for racing sprint and Madison whilst also improving their bike handling skills. Whilst for the experienced riders an opportunity to be coached at madison and sprint. The sessions will focus on sprint and madison racing technically, tactically and physically. This may include technical coaching around the correct approach to flying 200’s, technical skills required to sprint and madison racing and tactical coaching for different ways to race sprint and keirins.

For the sprint element we will bring both madison groups together to create a larger cohort with riders doing both madison and sprint as the technical skills required complement each other. These sessions provide an opportunity for individuals to get coaching prior to the Glasgow Sprint Grand Prix and the Scottish Cycling Madison championships later this year.
