Event Summary

Event Overview

Joe Guy Memorial Sportive 2018.

Joe Guy was a young rider who was tragically killed on May 31st, 2017. Joe was a keen cyclist with a bright future ahead of him having gained numerous successes at both a regional and national level. Joe’s passion was cycling and we want to remember him through the sport and therefore we are going to run a sportive every year on the weekend closest to the date we lost Joe – the first of these being Sunday, June 3rd.

The sportive will be for various levels of riders from all age groups. The ride is designed to allow everybody to have fun but challenge themselves and raise money for the West Midlands Air Ambulance. There will be two routes which will leave Aldersley Stadium(Home of Joes club Wolverhampton Wheelers) from 10 am, covering 2 distances of roughly 30 and 50 miles. The routes are undulating but not hilly and will be fully marshaled with feed stations and support vehicles. All distances will be run under BC guidelines and routes approved re health and safety.

All proceeds from the rides will go to the West Midlands air ambulance. We have tried to keep the costs to a minimum to ensure we get as many riders attending as possible. There will also be the facility to donate to this great cause on the day.

We will be making the routes available to download to your Garmin devices and the routes will also be clearly marked along the route.

We want to remember Joe in a positive way and we have designed the day to be fun for all concerned and hope you can join us.

All our Love

Steve, Ang, Craig, George.
