Wallingford Festival of Cycling will be one of the biggest cycling events of 2017 and offers a unique chance to combine a great sportive with watching some top-class racing.

Our 50km and 110km road sportives offer a chance to ride some of Oxfordshire’s finest country roads and punchy climbs through the natural rollercoaster of the Chiltern Hills. 

The year’s event features a UK first as we host both the National Junior Men and Junior Woman’s Road races, with both events finishing on a closed road, town centre circuit, which will also feature a full programme of criterium racing.

The festival offers something for every level of cyclist including children’s festival, family rides, HGV safety display, pump track and lots of stalls with anything to do with bikes and health.

We are a not for profit event with any surplus going to support Team Vision Innovative Leisure or cycling coaching for local children. We thank Wallingford Town Council, the people of Wallingford, South Oxfordshire District Council and Oxfordshire County Council for being wonderful hosts. This is our third year and we plan to build on the huge sucess of last year when 3000-4000 spectators turned out to watch.This year we anticipate even bigger crowds in the town due to the road races and a larger than ever programme of community events. In previous years the riders loved our tight 950m circuit which had barriers all the away around and we are not changing that aspect or indeed the deafening encouragement of cowbells! 

Info for Riders

Field size will be restricted to 50 riders per race. All races have cash prizes for the first 5 with medals for the top three plus a Trophy(on loan) for the Winner of each race. We will again use transponders. Races this year are; 1,2,3 Mens Circuit Race Womans Circuit Race 3,4 Mens Race (ORRL), Youth A+B Girls Race, Youth A+B Boys Race. Final note: expect the warmest and noisiest crowd of the year as it turns out the people of Wallingford love cycling! The course itself is 950 m long around the town centre involving several great corners along with plenty of width for overtaking.

We will be accepting entries up to midnight on Sunday 2nd July after which we will email successful entrants to give you plenty of notice along with the information that you will need about travelling to and competing in the event.
