This is the first year of using Wheal Jane Cycling Circuit for closed circuit racing and sees a return of cycle racing in Cornwall after an absence of two years, owing to the loss of all other circuits. Wheal Jane Ltd has been central to the opening of the circuit and needs to be thanked for their immense help, hard work and continuing support. Thanks must also go to all those who contributed to the Crowdfunding scheme in Nov/Dec 2015. Without your support this project would have died before it started. This is a three to five year project and this year sees a “modest” race programme as we sort out the site and our relationship with Wheal Jane Ltd and their tenants. Naturally, we hope that more clubs and individuals will step forward to promote events in future years. Wheal Jane is an industrial site and therefore access is restricted only to event days. Spectators are only allowed in specific areas which will be indicated on race days. However because those areas are raised it’s possible to see virtually the whole circuit and particularly the start and finish. A toilet block is on site but no changing facilities yet. We have a trailer café booked for race days that will provide hot drinks cakes and possibly hot food. Please park in designated areas and NO parking on the grass please! Tenants of the site may need access on race days and a protocol has been agreed. This will be in the race briefing.  A considerable amount of work has gone into upgrading the surface, which is now superior to Portreath and Perranporth (for those who have ridden in Cornwall in recent years). Circuit is clockwise and includes two climbs and two descents, one will test everyone’s legs!  A period of practice will only be allowed if all elements of the BC risk assessment are in place. We will endeavour to provide such a time on race days.
