About the Event

Info for Riders

This early-season test of many climbs and descents will get the heart racing no matter what! As always we’ve found some really interesting roads. There will be routes not even the most regular rider will know well. Both routes offer some serious challenges and will not disappoint those looking for a test!

Both routes explore hidden country lanes en-route to Leyburn before the route splits. Which route will you choose?

The LONG heads up the first test on the course Gale Bank before dropping down to the Forbidden Corner where the first feed station will be. You will then continue along the never ending undulating road through many little villages that contain some short punchy climbs to Kettlewell. Here you will turn right and head to Hubberholme – yes that is a name – where you will arrive at your second feed station. When you have filled the tank it’s time to ride deep into the Dales and prepare for the second serious climb of the day, Dodd Fell Hill, before dropping down towards Hawes. The next bit of the route gives you time to recover heading to Aysgarth before taking on the remainder of the testing hills that present themselves with Brunton Bank and Castle Bolton where you will find you final feed station. Your final climb is onto the moor tops and onto Whipperdale Bank. Once this is conquered you are on your final leg home watch out for enemy fire along the tank road!

The SHORT continues straight along the undulating road with some tight twists and turns towards Aysgarth. Here you re-join the LONG route dropping down past Aysgarth Falls before taking on your first real test of the day up Brunton Bank to the village of Carperby. From here to will be able to have a little rest as you cycle downhill before turning left and riding up to Castle Bolton where your first feed station will be. Your final climb is onto the moor tops and onto Whipperdale Bank. Once this is conquered you are on your final leg home watch out for enemy fire along the tank road.
