Event Summary

Event Overview

This is the 6th running of the Ronde Van Calderdale (RVC) that continues to win praise for the well signed route, the amazing scenery, the friendly nature of the volunteer team and the great feed stations and support for every rider entering.

The 2017 event will feature two ride lengths. The ever popular 72 mile ride (average ride time is over 5 hours as it is a real challenge) and now a new medium route of 50+ miles. The medium route follows the long route until feed station 2. the key difference between the long and medium route is about 20+ miles and you miss out on the Jowler Bank cobbled climb.

Both length rides include very testing climbs on both cobbles and Tarmac road sections in and around Calderdale that test the skills, stamina and endurance of every rider, with great scenery along the way. These are routes that have brought riders back each year along with their buddies where riders stop and cheer each other up climbs, then remount and hit the next climbs to keep the camaraderie going.

The entry fee will include a rully signage route, three well manned feed stations en route and changing facilities at Spen Valley Sport College. We have over 200 on-site parking spaces available, or park nearby and ride to the Sports College. Refreshments will be available before and after the event at extra cost from outside caterers.

The event will have around 300 signs to keep people en-route, before and after each junction.

This is a unique event in the UK sportive calendar, and all proceeds go to help develop riders from Kirklees Cycling Academy. Five of our riders, all members of British Cycling were selected for the Olympic Development Apprenticeship in October 2014, we have made further investments in coaching resources, infrastructure and subsidised coaching sessions to assist more riders to achieve their potential.

See you in April.

We do not offer refunds but we hope you are ok with this as all funds go the club and everyone involved is a volunteer, giving their time as cyclists, for cyclists.

Darren, Mick, Ginny, Andy, Mark, Gina, Craig, and the other RVC volunteers look forward to meeting previous riders and new riders too and looking after you to the very best of our ability.

A unique RVC gift and celebration ale will be provided to every rider on the day upon completion.
