DEAR RIDER,

For the previous two years we have been oversubscribed and following BC directions have accepted riders only by order of merit. This meant that the race consisted of only cat 2 riders and whilst this made for very interesting racing, this year we will be allocating at least 20 places to cat 3 riders. This is because we are a club who pride themselves on encouraging participation in cycling from varying levels.

Due to the fact that a mandatory paramedic is not required we have been able to reduce the entry fee to £35.00. All riders who entered at the higher fee will therefore only have £35.00 taken from their account upon acceptance to the race.

The Tour of the Milburys is a very popular two stage road race held in affectionate memory of Team Axiom founder member Roy Ludford and consists of a 6km time trial (stage 1). This is followed by a circuit road race (stage 2) of 110km.

This event is open to cat 2/3/W racers. Start times are 10:00 for stage 1 and 13:00 for stage 2.

Course Details

Stage 1 TT - 'Teglease Down' - Start southerly in New Rd past Pondside farm. Left at 1.6km into Watton Lane continue towards West End Down. Left at 2.6km towards Teglease Down where at 4.6km left into Old Winchester Hill Lane. Finish at top of Old Winchester Hill. connect.garmin.com/activity/4718427

Stage 2 Road Race- ‘Owslebury Circuit’.Start at Meon Hall car park, proceed to A32. At roundabout turn left (first exit) and proceed on B3035 for 2km. Turn first right (M) onto unclassified road. Proceed in a northerly direction for 4km to the Rooksgrove crossroads (M) and turn left and continue through to the Milburys Pub crossroads (M) (Start Circuit). Proceed straight on at Milbury’s Crossroads on unclassified road to Lane end X roads where turn left (M) and descend Longwood Down to Owslebury Xroads where turn left to onto Belmont Lane. Proceed on Belmont Lane taking care at the sharp right hand bend where extreme care is needed, to the Xroads at Stephen Castle Down. Turn Left at Xroads (M) into Salt Lane. Proceed on Salt Lane to the The Milburys crossroads (M) to complete the lap. Bonuses

These will be awarded for Stage 2 and will count towards the General Clasification (GC). They will be awarded to the first 3 riders through the finish line on each lap (except the first) and also to the first 3 finishers.

Info for Riders

Sign on no later than 20mins prior to start of each Stage. HQ will be open from 8:00 where refreshments will be available. TT bikes, tri-bars,aero helmets are permitted for use during the TT. A leader's jersey is awarded after Stage 1. Prizes awarded after Stage 2. £38.00 entry fee covers BOTH Stages, online entry opens Monday 18th January. On the day entry is £40.00. Please note if you do not select to go on the reserve list upon entry you will not be selected as a reserve. Funds are not taken until your entry has been approved.
