Event Overview

This is the 50th edition of the Clayton Spring Classic. Traditionally the Norths season opener it was originally a 55 mile road race based on the tough Barnoldswick circuit attracting the country best amateur riders. In the 80s it became Pro Am and the level went up a notch. The present handicap format of the last 10 years now sees an 80 rider field and the scratch group made up of the counties best Elite riders chasing down the 6 minutes given to the aspiring juniors and lower catogories.Past winners include Ian Stannard and Rob Hayles.
