On Saturday 26^th September 2015 the cycling community was hit by the terrible news that John Potter, a well-recognised cycling advocate had sustained serious, life threatening injuries following a cycling crash at Dishforth Airfield.

John’s collision left him with a broken back, broken neck, six broken ribs, two collapsed lungs and he had a cardiac arrest at the scene. He was incredibly lucky to have survived. Fortunately the Yorkshire Air Ambulance responded quickly, and stabilised him at the scene before transferring him to the specialised trauma centre at Leeds General Infirmary.

In recognition of the incredible work the Yorkshire Air Ambulance carry out every day and our gratitude, Alba Rosa Cycling Club are running a charity fund raising event, to be run jointly with Prologue Cycling & 9 Regiment Army Air Corps.

Event Details: Date: Saturday 12th December 2015 | Event duration: 8 Hours | Team Size: 4 Person ideally but other team sizes at organiser discretion | Location: Dishforth Airfield, Dishforth, Thirsk, North Yorkshire, YO7 3EZ | Course: Track perimeter | Start Time: 0800hrs | Finish Time: 1600hrs | Event entry: £25 per person / £100 per team of four | This in an official event, affiliated with British Cycling | The first lap around the course is a familiarisation lap and the race will not start until the judge signals | The event will be judged by British Cycling volunteers by means of lap counting | The final number of laps for each team will only include those completed before the finishing bell sounds | The winning team will be the team that has fully completed the highest number of laps before the finish
