Jack Finch returned from a two-week layoff to claim his first victory of the London League season, beating Dan Drake by around 20 seconds.
The PMR Toachim House rider suffered a broken finger and has been unable to ride. But feeling suitably recovered, the 19-year-old lined up at the start of round ten.
Finch was quick out of the blocks, leading the race on the first climb before regrouping with a break of five towards the end of the opening lap.
He then suffered a mechanical problem but was able to ride to the pits to change bikes and come out neck-and-neck with Matt Webber.
After duelling with Webber for a while, Finch put his head down and pushed on, opening up a gap out at the front of the race.
Speaking after the race, Jack said: “It was muddy on the track and quite slippery down in the bottom with a 50 metre stretch of running, which was painful!
“It was great to get a win, I’ve had a few decent results, second places, but then I broke my finger and I’ve not rode for two weeks.
“I’ve been in really good form and I’m feeling good now, I think the rest has helped me more than the training would have and next week is the Regional Championships, so I’ll be entering that.”
