Hope Factory Racing’s Rob Jebb secured victory in the final round of the Yorkshire Points Series at Centre Vale Park in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, on Sunday.
A prolific winner of the Three Peaks, Jebb again used his running ability just as much as his riding skills to master a course which was very wet and covered in deep mud.
The 37-year-old, who was originally from Yorkshire but now lives in Kendal, Cumbria, led from the start, initially with Nick Barnes (Zepnat RT), but soon he was by himself with a 30 second lead by the time he began the second lap.
Jebb gradually pulled clear, while Barnes tired and was caught and dropped by two rivals, missing out on a podium finish which may have dented his hopes in the overall Yorkshire Points Series.
Jebb’s team-mate at Hope Factory Racing Jamie Sharp had a race-long battle with Keith Murray (Scott UK), with Murray edging him out for sixth spot in a sprint finish.
Andy Peace (Crosstrax) made it two wins in two rounds of the Yorkshire Points Series when he took a convincing victory in the race for veterans and women.
Fourth in the last round, Chris Taylor (Pedalsport CC) led off on lap one alongside Jough Watson (Charge Bikes), but by the time the leaders emerged from the woods for the first time Peace was on the front, and pulling clear.
Watson dropped back, but Taylor had a battle on his hands holding off Noel Clough (Fietsen Tempo), and only managed to get the better of his rival on the final lap.
Meanwhile, former National Senior Champion Chris Young (Pedalsport CC) made his customary slow start and fought back from an initial 12th spot to finish fourth.
In the women’s race, Tracey Fletcher (Empella) took the win ahead ofg Marie Jackson (Paul Milnes-Bradford Olympic) while Juliette Horrocks (Hope Factory Racing) was third.
