Adeo Cadence Racing Team member Charles Coleman won the fourth round of the Western Cyclo-Cross League, promoted by Striking Bikes at Stroud Leisure Centre, Stratford Park, Gloucestershire on Sunday.

Coleman, 20 and from Bradford on Avon in Wiltshire, had predicted that he would win the race, but in the early exchanges it was by no means certain.

He had Scott Easter for company over the first few laps until Easter rolled a tub on the sixth lap. By the time he had got back to his spare, he was 13th in the race and well off the pace, while Coleman marched on to victory.

Behind him, there was a similar battle for the minor placings between last year’s league champion Craig Denning and junior rider Matt Woods. The undulating nature of the course suited the youngster more, and he eventually had the better of Craig.

Top veteran was local rider Richard Cross who was riding his first cyclo-cross race this year having had a successful season on mountain bike.
