Kent’s Cyclopark is the location for two days of high-paced action as the 2015 British BMX Series heads into rounds three and four.
Cyclopark was host to rounds two and three last year and also welcomed the British Cycling BMX Championships in 2014.
Racing runs through Saturday and Sunday at the outdoor facility in Gravesend.
Elite men
With a strong international presence for the opening rounds in Manchester - as many riders used the event to get a feel for course ahead of April’s UCI BMX Supercross World Cup - many riders opted to ride only one round of the two.
The result is Burham BMX Club rider Ryan Stack leading on 116 points with Manchester BMX Club’s Jacob Roberts second on 114 points.
With a rider’s top eight from 10 results from the series going to their overall total, the missed round should not prove too detrimental.
Stack, Roberts and last year’s champion Daniel McBride are listed to start. Behind them in the standings sit Peckham Challengers’ Tre Whyte and Quillan Isidore plus Paddy Sharrock.
The trio though will compete for the Great Britain Cycling Team on 18-19 April at the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, bringing into question their participation in Kent.
Championship women
Blaine Ridge-Davis and Emily Green are tied after the opening two rounds of racing, both on 179 points.
Ridge-Davis gained an early lead with a victory in round one and backed up that ride with second in the B final in round two at the National Cycling Centre.
Decoy BMX Club’s Green was third in round one and sixth in round two. Both will be present in Kent as will Katurah Davidson (Peckham Challengers), currently third overall.
Venue
Opened in 2012, Kent’s Cyclopark has become one of the country’s outstanding facilities for cycling. In BMX terms, the facility boasts a 330-metre race track and has, in its short life, become a staple location for national events.
